She is a very good writer and always leaves me wanting more. I am ready to read a follow-up novel on Sheridan, Asia, and Kendall because a single novel was just not enough. Because this book wove together the stories of four main characters, the character development was not to the same extent as in Grown Folks Business. I was also happy to see a follow-up in The Ex Files to Sheridan's original story as told in Grown Folks Business, which I also read only 2 days- excellent also. I read the kindle version in 2 days. I thought this was an excellent book. While I did feel that the characters were a little unbelievable at times, overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. However in spite of her cramming all four characters in one novel, I thought Victoria did a very good job of tying their stories together.
:) I completed the book in 3 days. This was the 1st Christian Fiction book that I have ever read. It is worth every cent that you spend on it. This book was sooo good that I am hoping for a part 2. It keep me reading. It was hard to put it down.
The character that incensed me the most though was the Kendall's father, the nerve of him for not only expecting his wife to welcome the daughter that was a constant reminder of an affair, but to guilt Kendall into donating her organs and refusing to talk to her because she did not want to was too much for me. After all the build-up of the characters, I was just not satisfied with the ending. She would have healed internally a long time ago had she released them and walked in forgiveness. Christopher Murray's since the beginning, I must admit I was not at all happy with this book in particular. I forgave them both and walked away without looking back.Even though I was unhappy with this one, I have no intentions of not purchasing other books by her because I love her writing and think she is an exceptional writer, this one just took me aback is all. I am happy that they all ended up being friends, but again, I could have used more developing with the endings and the characters.
Been there, done that, not with a sister (blood), but with a dear friend that was like a sister. While I have been a fan of Mrs. I am very familiar with Sheridan's story so the development was there originally, but although the characters were developed a bit initially, the last 3 or so chapters seemed rushed and everything was under developed to me.And this is strictly in my opinion, but I was not happy because I feel it was lacking in development. I understand the Christian forgiveness thing and believe that she held onto unforgiveness a tad bit too long, but her father was unbelievable.
Then, after all the lying and conniving, the Asia character got off much too easily. Additionally, as the title of this book suggests,.Women and Faith, why didn't Vanessa's "faith" help her not to follow in her husband's footsteps. I wondered what message the author was trying to convey when she had the most spiritual character commit suicide and the fornicating character be the prayer leader. I was very disappointed that committing suicide was depicted as a pardonable sin. That was really a stretch. I also think that highlighting how the internet can guide you into suicide was in poor taste.
Finally, I'm also not sure that realistically an ex-husband would expect his wife to "celebrate" his marriage to his wife's sister. Ex-FilesEven though this novel is quite engaging, I feel that the message that some of the characters reflected was not on point. The Bible clearly says, "thou shalt not kill." If you kill someone, including yourself, at what point can you ask God for forgiveness. Now, in spite of Sheridan's husband's flaw, doesn't the Bible teach us to forgive.
in this book i feel like the plots are dragged on and the characters unrealistic. the plot is choppy.
i will still read books by this author however i give this book a C. especially vanessa, couldn't understand her motives and she seemed very whiny.
moreover the characters underdeveloped. i feel like the author was forging religion in this book and trying way to hard.
i was so disappointed with this book having already read tmptation and a sin and a shame, two great books by the way. also the language is unsophisticated and doesn't flow.
moreover the characters situations in the book dont really change, they are not really "stronger".
